health and well-being of older adults.
Smile Dental recently held a press conference
to announce its Senior Oral Health Preventive Care Public Welfare Initiative,
with the program’s community outreach efforts and oral health education receiving coverage and recognition from multiple news media outlets.
記者會現場特別邀請到知名藝人蔡昌憲與蔡媽媽一同出席。蔡昌憲一家人多年來皆由蒔美團隊照護口腔健康，會中也透過自身經驗，呼籲大眾共同關注長者的口腔預防，讓長壽不只是生命時間的延長，更是擁有高品質、能享受生活的健康餘命。
The event welcomed well-known Taiwanese entertainer Tsai Chang-Hsien and his mother as special guests. Tsai and his family have entrusted Smile Dental with their oral health care for many years. Drawing on his personal experience, he encouraged the public to pay greater attention to preventive oral care for older adults—so that living longer means more than simply extending lifespan, but also enjoying a healthier, more fulfilling quality of life in later years.

預防勝於治療，江政倫醫師提倡長期口腔管理 蒔美牙醫集團執行長江政倫醫師於記者會中強調：「牙科一直以來很重要的一個觀念，就是『預防勝於治療』。許多牙周問題與口腔疾病，往往是在長時間累積後才被發現，尤其進入高齡階段後，更需要透過規律檢查、清潔與持續性的口腔管理，盡可能維持牙齒、牙周與口腔環境的穩定，而不是等到疼痛、鬆動或影響使用後才開始處理。」
At the press conference, Dr. Chiang Cheng-Lun, CEO of Smile Dental Group, emphasized the importance of preventive care and long-term oral health management: “One of the most fundamental principles in dentistry is that prevention is better than treatment. Many periodontal problems and oral diseases develop gradually over time and may not be detected until they have progressed significantly. This is especially important as people enter their later years. Regular dental examinations, professional cleaning, and ongoing oral health management can help maintain the stability of the teeth, gums, and overall oral environment, rather than waiting until pain, tooth mobility, or difficulty eating develops before seeking treatment.”

Bringing international standards of care to Taiwan, Dr. Hsueh Sheng-Ju explains the GBT preventive care approach. Dr. Hsueh further explained: “To make prevention a meaningful part of everyday clinical care, Smile Dental has introduced the Swiss EMS Guided Biofilm Therapy (GBT) protocol for preventive oral care. With biofilm management at its core, the protocol integrates oral assessment, professional treatment, patient education, and regular maintenance into a comprehensive care process. This allows dental care to move beyond simply treating problems after they occur and toward a more complete approach to long-term oral health management.”

Tsai Chang-Hsien shared an emotional reflection on why the quality of life of aging parents matters so deeply to their children. Seeing his mother go from being troubled by oral health issues to being able to eat more comfortably and laugh freely has given Tsai a deeper understanding of what older adults truly need. It is not simply a longer life, but the ability to maintain a good quality of life, stay active and comfortable, and continue enjoying life as they grow older.

Bringing Oral Health Care to Underserved Communities: Expanding Preventive Education and Access to Dental Care for Older Adults
公益計畫延伸，投入偏鄉衛教與協助 除了院內的預防照護，公益計畫未來也將延伸至偏鄉與高齡族群，透過口腔健康衛教與相關就醫協助，讓更多長輩有機會提早認識口腔預防的重要性。
Extending the initiative through community outreach and support In addition to preventive care provided at Smile Dental clinics, the initiative will also expand into underserved and rural communities, with a focus on older adults. Through oral health education and assistance in accessing dental care, the program aims to help more seniors understand the importance of preventive oral health care at an earlier stage.
